Dear Friends and Supporters

We have just concluded a very difficult and challenging session, but in many ways it was one of my most effective. I was able to combine my strong budgeting background and your voice to force the democrats to pass a budget without major new taxes. And believe me, they wanted to.

I also effectively brought my message to every corner of the state that the recently passed operating budget relied way too much on one-time money and was unsustainable. I offered several alternatives to avoid spending money the government didn’t have. I also added my voice to stop the passage of legislation to break a promise and take $60 million in levy equalization funds from our children and families in poorer school districts.

The $9 billion deficit you heard and read about could have been cut in half. I advocated for early and decisive action that would have protected against deep cuts to our most vulnerable population and saved thousands of jobs.

I do not believe in spending more than what we have and then asking our citizens for more taxes to make up the difference. The government must stick to a budget and live within its means, just like you do at home and in your businesses.

The key to protecting your taxpayer dollars is to have someone who will listen to and continue to offer common sense and fiscally responsible solutions.

With your support, I am ready to return to the Washington State Legislature and to bring a voice of reason and integrity back to the capitol.

Please continue visiting my website to learn more about my background, accomplishments, issues and how you can help. It is an honor to serve you.
